About

The old street of Shuang gou revealed what it looked like back to the Ming Dynasty. Shuang gou town was a busy hub during the Ming and Qing dynasty, a key point for business development and for the local economy. Various distilleries in town produced very fine liquor, with banners and lanterns hanging high. The town was prosperous and surrounded by different liquor stores, teahouses, inns, medicine shops, and opera gardens that sprawled for miles. It was so crowded during the temple fairs that people from near and afar all came over. It took up to 2 hours to walk down the street.

The old street of Shuang gou inherits traditional Hui culture and embraces the Huizhou architecture style. This is because ShuangGou was once governed by the Anhui administration before 1955. Then it was put under the administration of Huaiying City, JiangSu Province after 1955. In 1996, it became a part of Suqian City.
